I thought I’d share this link b/c I feel it’s important.
Many people email asking how they can “shadow”, intern, or otherwise “help in any way possible!” and I believe that volunteering one’s time and talents at a facility such as this is the BEST way to start. The animals that reside at sanctuaries and shelters are every bit as good a “client” to work on. The rewards are tremendous. This is also a population that wouldn’t otherwise receive such…pampering, if you want to call it that. [How about we call it "care".] If you don’t have the money to otherwise donate, and who does these days, then think about the above.
Unless of course you are someone that wants to make money working on animals & would like to start working with someone already in the business. To that I say: please don’t quit your day job! This is more of a hobby and as such, and in these tough times, it is not a profitable venture.
Give and you will get back.
